Rhetoric and media training
Our rhetoric and media training prepares executives, politicians and experts for appearances in front of audiences, cameras and the press – practised for your actual appearances, with video recording.
The expertise is there, but it gets lost in front of an audience. The talk has 40 slides, the interview opens with justifications, and there is no prepared answer to critical questions.
We work with you directly: record appearances, review them together, practise specifically. You get a clear topic profile, a handful of core messages and exercises that work in everyday life.

What makes good rhetoric and media training
Rhetoric, presentation or media training: which is right for you
Rhetoric training, or speech training, works on the fundamentals: structure, language, voice, posture and pauses. Presentation training focuses on talks with slides, for example to customers, committees or at trade fairs. Media training prepares you for interviews with the press, radio and television. In these situations someone else asks the questions and edits the result. Camera training is part of this. It practises appearing in front of the lens, including for your own videos and online meetings. The starting point is always the same question: which audience will you face next?
Structure beats talent
Most appearances fail not because of the voice but because of the structure. If you start with background and details, you lose your audience before your actual point arrives. We therefore work with a simple rule: the most important message comes first, followed by no more than three reasons, and finally a clear request or conclusion. This structure works just as well in a speech to a large audience as in a five-minute report to the board. Add pauses that let statements sink in and examples from your everyday work that the audience can remember. In our experience, people who know where their speech is heading are also much calmer.
Interview training: prepared for critical questions
In an interview, you do not decide which sentences are broadcast. Of a ten-minute conversation, often only one or two short clips, known as sound bites, make it into the piece. That is why we practise phrasing key messages in short, complete sentences that make sense on their own. For critical questions we train the bridging technique: acknowledge the question honestly, then lead on to your own message without dodging it. We simulate interviews realistically, with awkward follow-up questions and interruptions, and review the recordings together on screen. That way you experience the real situation for the first time in a safe setting, not in front of a rolling camera.
Camera training for videos and online meetings
Many things come across differently on camera than in a room. Small movements look big, uncertainty shows in your eyes, and without an audience there is no feedback. In camera training we practise speaking directly into the lens, sitting or standing calmly and breaking thoughts into short sections. Practical questions about lighting, framing, sound and clothing are part of it too. This helps not only with TV interviews but also with video messages to staff, LinkedIn posts and presentations by video conference.
Appearance coaching for executives and politicians
Executives and politicians are under particular scrutiny: every speech, statement and recording can be shared further. Appearance coaching for this group therefore combines rhetoric with work on key messages. What do you stand for, which two or three topics do people associate with you, and how do you react when the situation is tense? We work confidentially and one to one. Ahead of election campaigns, staff meetings or trade fairs, we support you over several sessions up to the appearance itself, including speech writing and a rehearsal at the venue. Between sessions we remain available by phone and video.

Frequently asked questions about rhetoric and media training
Who is presentation coaching for?
For everyone who regularly faces audiences, cameras or press: managing directors, politicians, experts and executives. Even without a marketing department, we work with you directly.
How discreet is the coaching?
Completely. Coaching is confidential, and we delete recordings after completion if you wish.
How many sessions are needed?
Usually four to eight sessions to start, then ongoing monthly support or support for specific occasions.
Does the coaching take place on site?
On site or by video. Camera training works best on site; preparation for individual appearances can also be done by video.
What does rhetoric or media training cost?
One-to-one coaching for speeches, presentations or conversation skills starts at €890 net plus VAT for half a day. A full-day media and camera training with realistic interviews starts at €1,800. For support ahead of an important appearance, with three to five sessions, speech writing and a rehearsal on site, expect to pay from €2,900. After the free initial consultation you receive a fixed-price quote.
What is the difference between rhetoric training and media training?
Rhetoric training improves how you speak and come across: structure, language, voice and posture. Media training prepares you specifically for interviews with the press, radio and television. There, someone else asks the questions and decides which excerpts appear. That is why media training focuses on short, quotable key messages and on handling critical follow-up questions. The two combine well, depending on the occasion.
Does rhetoric training help with stage fright?
In most cases, yes. Switching off stage fright entirely is neither possible nor necessary, as a certain tension keeps you alert. What helps is confidence: a clear structure, a rehearsed opening for the first 30 seconds and breathing techniques for the moment before you go on. Practising with video recording lets you experience the situation several times in advance. For severe fear of public speaking, psychological support may also be useful.
How do I prepare for a TV interview?
Ideally in three steps. First, clarify the topic, the length of the piece and whether it is live or recorded. Then define two or three key messages and phrase each one in a short sentence that stands on its own. Finally, think about which critical questions may come up and practise your answers out loud, preferably in front of a camera. Plain clothing without fine patterns works best on screen.
