Website and online shop design

Looking for a website that loads fast, gets found and brings in enquiries? We plan, design, build and run websites and online shops for small and medium-sized businesses.

The website is five years old, loads slowly and is hard to use on a phone. Every text change needs a developer, and enquiries end up in an inbox nobody reads regularly.

We build your site to load fast, work on every device and let your team maintain content themselves. Enquiries flow straight into your CRM. Afterwards we take care of hosting, backups and updates.

What we build as a web design agency

  • Brand websites

Multilingual, fast, search-engine friendly. With Astro, Next.js or a classic CMS, depending on your needs.

  • Online shops

Shopify, WooCommerce or Shopware, with payment, shipping and accounting integration.

  • Content management

So your team maintains content themselves, without a developer for every comma.

  • Tool integration

HubSpot, Pipedrive, Salesforce: data flows automatically instead of sitting idle.

  • Operation and maintenance

Hosting in Germany, backups, updates and security monitoring.

  • Conversion optimisation

A/B tests, click analysis and enquiry funnel analysis. Continuously better instead of a relaunch every four years.

What matters when you have a website built

What determines the cost of a website

The biggest cost driver is rarely the technology. It is the content: how many pages are needed, who writes the copy, and are there photos of your own? On top of that come features such as multiple languages, appointment booking or a connection to your customer management system. A landing page for a single offer is therefore considerably cheaper than a company website with 20 or 30 subpages. Also budget for running costs for hosting, maintenance and updates. Because prices on the market vary widely, it is best to compare quotes by scope of services, not just by the final price.

WordPress or a lean system: which technology fits

WordPress is the most widely used content management system. It fits when many people publish posts regularly or when certain plugins are needed. However, these plugins have to be updated constantly, otherwise security gaps appear. For company websites whose main job is to inform and bring in enquiries, we often use lean systems such as Astro. The pages are generated in advance, load very fast and offer hardly any attack surface. Your team still edits text and images itself. As a WordPress agency, we also build new WordPress sites or revise existing ones.

Relaunching without losing your Google rankings

In a relaunch, that is the rebuild of an existing website, the biggest risk lies in the page addresses. If they change without redirects, visitors and Google land on error pages, and rankings built up over time are lost. That is why we first record all existing pages, check which ones bring visitors and enquiries, and permanently redirect every old address to the matching new page. After launch we use Google Search Console, Google’s free analysis tool, to check that all pages are indexed.

Accessible websites: what the BFSG requires

Since 28 June 2025, the German Accessibility Strengthening Act (Barrierefreiheitsstärkungsgesetz, BFSG) has been in force. It requires many businesses that sell products or services to consumers online to make their offering accessible. This mainly affects online shops and booking processes. Micro-enterprises with fewer than ten employees and an annual turnover or balance sheet total of no more than €2 million are exempt for services. Have your individual case checked to find out whether your offering is covered. Regardless of the legal duty, accessibility pays off: clear contrast, legible type, keyboard navigation and image descriptions help all visitors and make content easier for search engines to read. We build new sites with as few barriers as possible, following the international Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).

Having an online shop built: Shopify, WooCommerce or Shopware

Which shop system fits depends on your product range, processes and planned growth. Shopify is quick to set up and is run by the provider, but charges monthly fees. WooCommerce is based on WordPress and suits businesses where shop and content belong closely together. Shopware is designed for larger product ranges and business customers with individual prices. The processes behind the system matter more than the system itself: how do orders reach your inventory management, who ships them, and how are returns handled? On top of that come the legal essentials, such as a legal notice (Impressum), privacy policy and cancellation policy. With us, an online shop starts at €15,000 net plus VAT.

Frequently asked questions about websites, home pages and online shops

What does a website cost?

A brand website usually costs between €12,000 and €35,000. A small landing page starts at around €4,000, an online shop at around €15,000. All prices are net, plus VAT. After the initial consultation you receive a fixed-price quote.

Which CMS do you recommend?

That depends on the use case. For marketing sites, increasingly Astro with a lean CMS; for classic editorial work, WordPress or Strapi.

Can we edit the site ourselves later?

Yes. We build it so your team publishes texts, images and posts independently.

Is the site optimised for Google and AI search?

Yes. Clean headings, structured data, fast loading and clear answers to your customers’ questions are standard for us. That way both Google and AI assistants such as ChatGPT find you.

How long does it take to build a website?

A landing page is usually online in three to six weeks, a brand website in about two to four months. Content has the biggest influence on timing: copy, photos and approvals. If we also handle copy and images, we plan those dates from the start. You receive the exact schedule together with the fixed-price quote after the free initial consultation.

Does my website have to be accessible?

That depends on what your website does. Since 28 June 2025, the German Accessibility Strengthening Act (BFSG) has required many businesses that sell to consumers online, for example through an online shop or a booking process, to make those services accessible. Purely informational sites where no contracts are concluded online are usually not covered, and micro-enterprises providing services are exempt. As standard, we build new sites with as few barriers as possible.

Will we lose our Google rankings in a relaunch?

Not if the relaunch is planned properly. Redirects are what matters: every old page address is permanently redirected to the matching new page, so visitors and Google find it again. We also keep content that ranks well and check after launch that all pages are indexed. Short-term fluctuations are normal. No reputable provider can guarantee specific rankings, but a well-planned relaunch protects what you have built.

Do you look after the website after launch?

Yes, if you wish. We provide hosting on servers in Germany, regular backups, security updates and uptime monitoring. You make small changes yourself in the content management system, and we plan larger extensions together. That keeps the site technically up to date, so it does not need a complete rebuild every few years. You keep the same contact as during the build.

Is this eligible for funding?

For projects in website or online shop, there are currently 13 matching funding programmes, 3 of them Germany-wide plus state programmes in 6 federal states. Whether it fits you depends on your federal state, company size and project – and almost always: apply first, order second.
