Website and marketing for tax advisers, law firms and consultants
Today, a website for tax advisers and law firms must above all do one thing: attract the right clients and the staff that are urgently needed. We combine a clear presence with digital processes that relieve your firm of paper and follow-up questions.
The firm has more enquiries than it can accept, but often not the right ones. At the same time there is a shortage of tax clerks, and the job advert sounds like that of every other firm. Clients send receipts as phone photos by email or drop off boxes. The website dates from a time when advertising by law and tax firms was considered improper, and it looks like it.
We first sharpen who your firm is there for: industries, company sizes, topics. From this comes a presence that appeals to the right clients and politely keeps unsuitable ones away. For recruitment, we show how work is done at your firm. And we set up digital routes for receipts and a client portal, aligned with your firm's software and the duty of confidentiality.

Professional rules: what tax advisers and lawyers may do
Tax advisers and lawyers may advertise if the advertising informs factually, in form and content, about their professional activity and is not aimed at obtaining a mandate in an individual case. This is, in essence, what the Steuerberatungsgesetz (German Tax Advisers Act) and the Bundesrechtsanwaltsordnung (German Federal Lawyers' Act) say. A modern website, expert articles, job adverts and social media profiles are therefore entirely possible. Care is needed with terms such as “specialist” or “Fachanwalt” (certified specialist lawyer): they must be accurate, and the Fachanwalt title requires award by the bar association. Approaching specific individuals about a particular matter remains off limits.
Recruitment is the real marketing issue
In many tax firms the bottleneck is not the number of clients but staff. Tax clerks and accountants can choose their job and compare firms closely. What interests them rarely appears in adverts: How digital is the firm? Is there working from home, fixed client responsibility, support with further training to Steuerfachwirt (senior tax specialist) or tax adviser? A careers page that answers these questions openly, and insights from your own team, have a stronger effect than any salary promise. A digital receipt flow is also an argument here, because nobody wants to type up boxes full of receipts anymore.
Confidentiality and the cloud: what is allowed
Professionals bound by confidentiality may involve external service providers, for example for IT, cloud or web hosting, if these are carefully selected and bound to confidentiality. For tax advisers this is regulated in § 62a of the Steuerberatungsgesetz, for lawyers in § 43e of the Bundesrechtsanwaltsordnung. In practice this means: an agreement in text form, a note that a breach is a criminal offence, and access only as far as necessary. In addition there is the data processing agreement under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). We run systems on servers in Germany, back up in two locations and document the obligation properly.
Management consultants: visibility through expertise
Management consultants are not subject to chamber rules, but they are subject to competition law. Their challenge is a different one: the service is invisible and hard to compare, and mandates almost always come through recommendation and trust. Marketing for consultants therefore means making expertise visible. This includes a clear positioning on a few topics, expert articles, talks, a professional presence on LinkedIn and a website that describes approach and results concretely. AI search likes to cite pages that answer a question precisely. Appearing there as a source builds trust before the first conversation takes place.
Questions from tax advisers, lawyers and consultants
How much does a website for a tax firm cost?
At Trendtreiber, a complete firm website with service pages, team presentation, careers section and content management system usually costs between €12,000 and €35,000. A single careers or offer page starts at €4,000. If you want to sharpen your positioning first, start with a positioning workshop from €2,400. All prices are guide prices, net, plus VAT. After the free initial consultation you receive a fixed-price quote.
May tax advisers advertise on LinkedIn or Instagram?
Yes, tax advisers may be active on social media as long as the content informs factually about their professional activity. Expert articles, notes on deadlines and changes in the law, insights into the firm and job offers are unproblematic. It is not permitted to solicit a mandate from specific individuals in a particular case. LinkedIn is suited to business clients and experienced professionals, Instagram mainly to finding apprentices.
How do I get clients to deliver receipts digitally and on time?
Most reliably with a route that is easier for clients than the old one. Photograph receipts by app or forward them to a fixed email address, automatic reminders before deadlines and an overview of what is still missing. We set up such processes based on your firm's software and add automations that detect missing documents and politely request them. A short, clear introduction for clients is important.
What does positioning do for a small firm?
Positioning ensures that the clients who come are those you can serve well, both professionally and economically. A firm focused on doctors, trades or business succession, for example, is recommended more specifically, can standardise processes and comes across more confidently in meetings. This does not mean turning other clients away. It means stating clearly to the outside world what you stand for. This also helps with recruitment.
Do you also prepare people for talks and client events?
Yes, with our presentation coaching we prepare partners and advisers for talks, client evenings, panels and interviews. We practise structure, language and presence in front of an audience and on camera until the message lands. Individual coaching starts at €890, a day of media and camera training at €1,800 plus VAT. Advisers in particular, whose service cannot be touched, win trust through convincing appearances.
