Website, advertising and digitalisation for tradespeople

Today a good website for tradespeople mainly brings two things: suitable jobs and new employees. We build your online presence, letter your vehicles and digitalise the processes between building site and office.

The order books are full, but there are not enough people. The website is ten years old and barely readable on a phone. The boss writes quotes in the evening at the kitchen table, and crumpled timesheets reach the office on Friday. Enquiries come in by phone, WhatsApp and notes on the dashboard, and some get lost along the way.

We start where the pressure is greatest. Usually that is finding staff: a careers page, real photos from your business and short videos that reach apprentices where they spend their time. Then we organise enquiry, measuring, quote and time tracking so that your people work on site with their phone and nothing has to be typed up in the office in the evening.

Marketing for trades businesses: what we take on

Digitalisation in the trades: what really counts

Why the website is now a tool for finding staff

Many trades businesses do not need more customers, they need people. Anyone who wants to apply looks at your website and your profiles first: How do the colleagues work, what tools are there, what does the company van look like? A careers page with real photos, clear information on pay, working hours and further training, and a form that does not require a CV lowers the barrier considerably. Apprentices often decide together with their parents. For them, contact person, training schedule, vocational school and chances of being taken on belong on the same page.

Time tracking is a duty, not an extra

Since a decision by the Bundesarbeitsgericht (Federal Labour Court) in September 2022, employers must systematically record their employees' working time. For businesses with changing building sites, paper is error-prone for this: travel time, breaks and overtime can hardly be reconstructed properly after the fact. Mobile time tracking that assigns hours directly to the job meets the obligation and gives you job costing along the way. You see which jobs paid off and which did not. What matters is a solution the fitter can operate in a few seconds, even with work gloves on.

E-invoicing: what is coming for trades businesses

Since 1 January 2025, companies in Germany must be able to receive electronic invoices from other companies. Issuing them is becoming mandatory step by step: from 2027 for businesses with more than €800,000 turnover in the previous year, from 2028 for all. A PDF sent by email then no longer counts as an e-invoice. Structured formats such as XRechnung or ZUGFeRD are required. Invoices to private customers stay as before. If you already connect measuring, quote and invoice digitally, the switch happens along the way instead of under time pressure.

What brings jobs and what does not

In the region, the first Google search often decides. In many trades, a complete business profile with current photos and answered reviews brings more than a newspaper ad. The second lever drives through your catchment area every day: a cleanly lettered van is seen by many people and only costs once. Paid ads are worthwhile when targeted, for example for profitable services such as bathroom renovation or heat pumps. Portals that sell enquiries to several businesses at once for a fee, on the other hand, often deliver bargain hunters rather than regular customers.

Questions from trades businesses

How much does a website for tradespeople cost?

At Trendtreiber, a single page for an offer or a job advert starts at €4,000. A complete website with services, references, careers page and a content management system you can maintain yourself usually costs between €12,000 and €35,000. Partial lettering for a van starts at €950. All prices are guide prices, net, plus VAT. After the free initial consultation you receive a fixed-price quote. You will find information on possible funding on our pricing page.

How do trades businesses find apprentices through social media?

Best with real insights instead of glossy images. Short videos in which your apprentices themselves show what they do on a normal day are more credible to school leavers than any advert. What matters is regular posts, applying by phone in a few minutes and a quick response. If you have not replied after three days, you lose applicants to the business next door.

Does a small trades business need trades software?

As soon as several people work on different building sites, software for quotes, orders and invoices is almost always worthwhile. What matters is not the program but that it works together with time tracking, calendar and accounting. We check what you already use, connect the parts and only set up something new where something is really missing. We only develop a custom app if standard solutions do not reflect your processes.

What belongs on a good website for tradespeople?

A good website for tradespeople answers three questions in seconds: What do you do, in what area, and how can you be reached. This includes real photos of projects and the team, your qualification as a master craftsman's or specialist business, reviews, a phone number to tap and a short enquiry form. An Impressum (legal notice) and a privacy policy are mandatory. For trades that require a licence, the Impressum must also name the responsible Handwerkskammer (chamber of crafts) and the professional title.
